Pisei na bola (com você e com meus próprios combinados e expectativas), né? A newsletter que era para ser na sexta, dessa vez vem com uma semana de atraso, no domingo. Um bom lembrete que a vida acontece - que bom!

Um causo
O inglês não é um meio de comunicação tão soberano assim. Quando saimos dos destinos mais desejados (ou mais clichês), quando saímos da rota turística e de seus cartões postais, quando acolhemos uma rotina local, nem sempre o inglês é o denominador comum. Pelo menos foi assim comigo, muitas vezes.
Quando morei em Hanoi, no Vietnam, vivi no centro da cidade. Um lugar cheio de becos e riquezas singulares da cultura local. Ou seja, quase não haviam moradores estrangeiros. O inglês não funcionava sempre. Apesar do inglês ter me levado até lá, ele quase nunca funcionou.
Não funcionava com o vizinho que criava peixes na calha, nem com a monja que pedia minha bicicleta emprestada. Não funcionava com a senhora que vendia salgadinhos e cigarros na esquina, ou o com filho dela que corria acenando e rindo toda vez que me via.
Também não funcionava com a moça que vendia flores, ou todos os outros vendedores espalhados ou transitando pelo bairro. Assim como com o tio aspirante a taxista que dormia em paz sob sua moto todas as tardes e me transportou em situações de emergência. O inglês não funcionou nas cem vezes que eu visitei a feira ou a padaria.
Assim como o meu (micro) conhecimento de vietinamita não ajudava, não funcionava. Ainda que eu tentasse aprender. O inglês me levou até lá, o inglês foi o meu ganha pão, mas, foi uma comunicação ainda mais universal que me manteve lá e que, ouso dizer, rebuliça a minha saudade.
